Social Media Policy
Wellingore Memorial Hall uses social media (At this time limited to Facebook, Instagram & NextDoor) to support its goal to develop the hall as the centrepiece of village life and promote the various groups and events held at the hall.
The Hall’s social media objectives are:

To use it as a platform to engage with the community and provide timely information, news, and updates on community events and activities.

Content for social media channels could include community news, events, details of clubs and possibly local businesses.The Hall has no intention to create private community groups or host discussion forums. Third party content and/or links to the Hall’s website and Facebook page will only be permitted on approval of the Committee.

Posts by third parties, businesses or individuals will not be allowed until reviewed and deemed appropriate by the Social Media Manager. Comments on any posts will be allowed. Sharing of content will be allowed.

The Committee of Wellingore Memorial Hall has final approval of any content to be posted on social media channels. The Hall will appoint a person as Social Media Manager, that person will have the skills and knowledge to use social media appropriately and in the best interests of the Hall and its objectives. Password information is restricted to the Social Media Manager.

Content is created by the Social Media Manager as instructed by the Committee. The Social Media Manager is responsible for ensuring content is up-to-date and relevant; they are permitted to remove content and advise the Committee. The Committee will ensure that The Social Media Manager is apprised of UK legislation and codes of conduct relating to social media. Trustees should be aware of their obligations to comply with the Charity Governance Code Edition 2017 in respect of their obligations as a charity trustee.

Any content featuring children must have the consent of a parent or guardian before posting (unless images are sourced from appropriate sources eg: photo libraries).

Any images used must be free of copyright infringement.

In the event of a complaint, the Chair/Social Media Manager will respond appropriately and ensure that the policy is complied with.

In the event of an incident, the Social Media Manager is responsible for ensuring prompt escalation to the Committee. The Social Media Manager will be responsible for removing content.

Any abusive message will be drawn to the attention of the Chair and the Chair will provide the appropriate support to the Trustee. In the event of a crisis channels would be taken offline. The Management Committee will decide when/if an issue is of a nature that requires escalation to the Charity Commission, police or a regulatory body.
